it was a really bizarre and horrible experience. i walked in and the shop attendant just stared at me without any acknowledgement while walking by. i felt judged and uncomfortable being in the store, that i was intruding by being a customer coming in during their open hours. she made eye contact with me many times (never a smile nor any semblance of asking me what i'm looking for). i had to break the awkward silence of her just staring at me without any friendliness, by making small talk that i was looking for a tea shop and came by. she said ok you can take a look around and them went back to ignoring and enduring my presence. i walked around and as i left she stared at me again without any friendliness. then as i walked out she began explaining and brewing tea for someone else. so disappointed as i am really into tea and was excited to explore an establishment of tea culture in the area, but seems like she wants me to bring my business elsewhere

Was a lovely and tranquil tea tasting . The owner spent time explaining the teas and about their origin. Nice break from the hustle of the city to catch up in a quiet space with a friend. Recommend

I went on a trip to New York with three of my friends who are all tea lovers like me. None of them had ever had a traditional tea ceremony, so I had to take them and try it out! I had a great time learning with them, and absorbing the information the owner gave us about the tea, the culture, and the practice of making real, good tea. Nothing like what you get in a cafe, its quality is beyond good! Though if you take sugar and milk in your tea, dont expect it here. Its traditionally made, traditionally drank! Just the tea, atmosphere, and educational yet zen vibes. I dont live in New york, but I'll certainly buy from Jin Yun Fu again! I wont go back to brewing and experiencing tea any other way 🫶

Pricey, for sure, so this a splurge experience. But it is a unique experience that makes you glad you live in a city where you can access stuff like this. We sat down and ordered a flight of teas. Lady comes out and gives us a beautiful tea ceremony and a concise and informative description of each tea we sampled. She explained its name, method of cultivation, process for harvesting, etc... There were at least three rounds, each round shifting the taste of the tea slightly. We sampled teas we had never had before, never tasted anything remotely similar. She patiently explains that there is no sugar, milk, nothing added to the teas. That would be like going sipping aged whiskey and asking if you could mix it with coca cola -- like, you've completely missed the point. Put away your phone for 40 minutes and be transported. I walked out renewed and relaxed. CAUTION: If you are so provincial that you can't imagine sitting down to have your tea in a porcelain cup instead of in a paper to-go cup, or if you have to have sugar in everything, there are literally multiple casual coffee shops on the same block where you can go do that.

Such a wonderful experience at Jin Yun Fu Tea Shop! My husband and I did the Horizontal Tea Flight and tried the oolong, pu’er, and white tea. Each one was beautifully prepared and thoughtfully explained. After each pour you start to see the true form of the tea. Olivia was incredibly sweet, knowledgeable, and so welcoming. She made us feel completely at home from the moment we walked in. The entire atmosphere was so zen and calming. Even with the busy street outside, it felt like we could truly slow down and just be present. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something intentional and special. We def want to come back for the Song Cha experience.
